eBay Rescue Part 6: Repairs, repairs, repairs…

ebayrescue

The best bargains to be found on eBay are often in a sorry state of repair.  From second edition marines covered in 6 layers of gloss acrylic paint, to crisis suits with arms / legs / heads / feet snapped off, thee items are generally consigned to the bottom of someone’s bitz box or painting drawer, until the time comes to abandon all hope of ever recovering the model and sticking it on eBay, to let someone else experience the horror have a go.

Wurrshuvs Revenge: Battle for Orks Drift

Campaign Map

The guys over at Advanced Tau Tactica are currently running a global campaign centering on the Invasion of a T’au planet by Ork Forces under the leadership of Warboss Wurrshuv.  The campaign has been running for 5 weeks now, and with no clear winner in sight I have decided to commit the forces of Kel’lys Sept to the fight.  For the Greater Good!

‘Countdown’

Orks-3

Shas’O, we have multiple intruder alerts, repeat, the Io’Tar has been boarded.’

‘Contain and destroy them, Shas’el.’

‘Affirmative, Shas’O.’

The comms link terminated abruptly, replacing the squall of background static with the ferocious din of battle.

O’Vash strode down the shuttle’s ramp and ducked back into the chamber.  Weapons fire strobed through the lightless corridors of AX-118, the air filled with small arms ricochets and the occasion crump of grenades against the drifting hulks bulkheads, all adding to the cacophony of war that was fast becoming a vision of hell.

‘Crisis’

His crisis suit slammed into the blood soaked ground, the retro-thrusters of the jetpack firing at the last possible moment to lessen the jarring impact of the Low Altitude Deployment. Shas’Vre Pech Diael immediately surveyed the scene of carnage around him, the driving rain doing its best to conceal the ruined city from his sensors. The Ork horde had already swept through the outer defence lines of Von’yth, and the surviving colonial garrison was desperately manning the last line of fortifications.

The Great Inventory, part 2

Ok, so the first part of the inventory was a bit of a shock to the system. I suspected that I might have got a bit carried away over the years but I never thought the collection had spiraled to over 500 models. I really didn’t want to carry on with the process to be honest, as I knew if I finished the inventory there would be some tough decisions to make with regards to how I deal with it all.

However, I knew deep down that the best thing to do was just to finish it and get an honest and frank assessment of where I am and how bad it has got. So, I knuckled down, gritted my teeth, girded my loins, and cracked on with part 2…

Muck and Brass: Ebay treasures, part 1

A lot of things changed when we moved abroad all those years ago, fundamentally so in many ways. Languages, food, weather, the sound pedestrian crossings make, and the cost of marmite to note but a few. You might say it was a time of almost complete change in our lives. There were, however, two exceptions to this rule. One was my love for my wife (Awwwww shucks – my love for beer came a close second), and the other was my eBay address.

For reasons known only to eBay, I was not allowed to update up details whilst abroad, and the task had slipped through the net of the ‘to do before we go list’ due to my fairly low usage rate at the time of leaving. However, when I got back into the hobby my first port of call was to trawl eBay’s trove of cut price treasures and build my collection quickly, but above all cheaply.

‘Sanctuary’

RT-Crimson_Fists_Chapter_Last_Stand

The vox hissed static and squawked to life. ‘-ompany, advance!’

Squad Juno leapt forward without hesitation, emerging from the cover of the ruined shrine with bolters roaring. As their shells raked the shattered sanctum ahead, return fire lashed at the Space Marines. Orange tracer rounds flicked through the air, ricocheting off the thick ceramtie of the Crimson Fist’s power armour as they surged relentlessly forward into the squall. The sanctum was heavily defended, but it has to be taken. The Orks desecrated it with their presence. They had to be purged.

‘Descent of Angels’

Jenkins lifted his head, the hot ash and dust cascading off his helmet as he unfurled himself from the rudimentary shelter provided by the command post. Slowly, he raised his eyes and peered warily over the top of the battered trench line. Other guardsmen were emerging from their hiding places too, looking nervously beyond the rampart and into the thick black smoke below.
