The Pledge for this months ‘Vale of Legions’ painting challenge is a fairly simple one – a single HQ from your list. This is just as well, as there is a lot going on for me this month and while I have to prioritise other ‘real life’ things ahead of hobby time I would rather not fall behind in the challenge at such an early stage – there will be plenty of opportunity for failure later!
As it happens, I only have one HQ in my list anyway and so have started cracking on with my Centurion Delegatus Consul, in Cataphractii Terminator Armour with Chainfist and Combi-Melta.
No fancy work required on the model as the HQ character will be pretty much as he comes in the Betrayal at Calth boxed set. I want him to accompany the terminator squad and so it seemed best to just keep it simple and leave him as is, and as is he is a pretty fantastic model anyway. Built, primed, sprayed, first coat of glaze added and some basic colour layers to boot.
I’ve also 90% completed the base – I’ve gone for a smaller tile pattern this time, made out of a single piece of card and am much happier with the results. I’ve kept the colours and pattern simple, all that’s left is to add the heather and some more fine detail once the model itself is painted.
So a very brief and uninteresting update I’m afraid, although I have also made a start on one member of the terminator squad. I required power axes for the squad, but didn’t want to buy the Forgeword Kits as they were just too expensive. Luckily I had some spare Grey Knight bits knocking around, and thought I would have a go at kit bashing something…. Let me know what you think.
